Song is my favorite Thai restaurant in Brooklyn for its delicious food and its very cool store. It is named Song after the Thai word
for two, since this is the owner's second restaurant. Song's decor is very compelling to me with the mixing of industrial and minimalistic themes. Its simplicity in their concrete floor, plain black tables and chairs, and exposed brick walls decorated with contemporary art and the steel accents are very reminiscent of Brooklyn's hip vibe. Not only does it have a beautiful indoor space, but also has awesome outdoor seating. A really alluring aspect of the decor is the opened kitchen because you can see the chef tossing and turning the food in his seven woks and the flames flaring. These furnishings along with the great prices and the delectable cuisine brings young locals and families constantly coming through the door.
At Song there are many traditional Thai specialties that you can choose from. Great example of that is the appetizer, Som Tom "green papaya salad" and the Fresh Thai Summer Rolls. The green papaya salad demonstrates the practice of balance in flavor and texture with the thinly shredded, cold green papaya and the earthy carrots juxtaposed by the crunchy, salty peanuts and splashes of fermented fish sauce. The salad is refreshing and ideal for a hot summer day. The summer rolls are also made with bright and fresh vegetables and shrimp served with a creamy, salty peanut sauce.
My favorite is always the classic Pad Thai, and at Song they make it better then I've had and every time I go back it is consistently astounding. Pad Thai is very intricate in its ingredients and chefs with experience and skill, like ones at Song, can balance everything into a delicious harmony. The combination of the sweet of palm sugar and the salty, brininess of the fish sauce, the bright sourness of the lemons, the crunch of the toasted peanuts, and the wet slipperiness of the rice noodles all coming together so preciously to make the most delicious dish that stimulate all of your scenes. I normally order it with chicken and shrimp because i enjoy the chicken's texture and flavor that the Pad Thai part takes into the shrimp. Slurping up that amazing plate of noodles can brighten up any day. At Song they have specials everyday written on a piece of paper. If you are lucky you will be there on a day where they serve their mussels in basil broth. The fresh mussels are cooked in a savory broth of the mussel liquor infused with tons of herbaceousness basil. The broth is great to drench the rice with and the mussels are a great dish for the summer. The basil fried rice is also one of my favorites. The basil adds a powerful freshness to the normally boring fried rice. I like fried tofu in my basil fried rice because the texture of the slightly chewy exterier and the creamy interior and how it picks up the flavor of basil.

Song is one of my go to restaurants when I have a craving for Thai food. It is such a great store that sells even better food. Many local Brooklynites have discovered and loved this restaurants, maybe you will too!
